Lunesta smiled brightly when he told her he would stay. She stroked Thorn's eyeridges and watched as he sat down. She was fascinated with him, and realized that he was interested in her. Probably not because of her rank, like the few guys she had been interested in. Kissing here and there, that wasn't a problem. But she had never had a partner, someone she was truly interested in.
On a physical, and emotional level. She smiled then and played the melody again, just the melody and cocked her head towards him. "It's an old Harper's Ballad, by Menolly..." She said softly as she stroked her harps edges. "It was taught to me, as one of my first few difficult songs... " She commented as she felt the color rising in her cheeks again.
"you make me feel much better, Healer Malchan... Your people really are the kind to make sure that everyone feels better. " She commented softly and then chuckled. Her lips pulling back and then up as she watched him. "You don't know how much... a simple kindness... means to a girl like me." She said softly.

Malchan listened intently as she played the song again, realizing that he did indeed recognize it. "I see! It's not one I hear very often ... but I must say I have heard it before. It's very nice ... a delight to listen to." He offered. Finding something safe to say was getting far more difficult to do ... what did a person say to someone like her, after all? He had no idea what so ever. But she wanted him to stay and talk to her ... and talking required words. At least ... for most people it did, though he had met a few who could talk and talk and talk and not say a thing. He wasn't one of those, though. Nor was he a fan of yammering to the point where he'd made a total fool of himself ... he knew when to shut up. "What other songs do you know?" He asked, figuring that was a safe direction.
He made her feel much better ... he couldn't see how. But hey ... better was good, wasn't it? He offered her a small smile. "What kind of people are my people? Are you referring to Healers?" He asked. Surely there were healers here at the Hold ... there had to be a whole posse of them! Though, seeing her smile was a real treat, and he smiled in return. Why she was coloring up again was totally beyond him. A simple kindness ... the sun cream meant that much to her? Surely she could get it any time she needed it? "Ah ..." was all that came out of his mouth, as he tried to think of what to say. What could he say? There wasn't much. "Well ... I'm glad you're feeling better." he said, eventually, completely aware that the statement, though true, was totally lame.

Lunesta laughed softly as she played the melody again. Now she was trying to figure out what exactly to say to him. The confusion was evident on her features as she nibbled her lower lip. Thorn decided to break the ice and gave a light trill. "You wanna sing?" She commented to the Fire-Lizard. "Well I know the Question Song, Paid with Dragon Gold, and the other teaching songs as well..." She commented as she ticked things off on her fingers. "Paid with Dragon Gold... makes me cry..." She admitted softly.
Poor Lenora, left alone... losing her dragon. Because she was trying to save the people of Pern. She stopped and then looked towards him, smiling softly. "It still means quite a lot to me, because you where a real help. Yes I meant healers... most of them try and fix people whom are broken. Even those that aren't obviously broken on the outside..." She admitted softly as she chuckled and cleared her throat. Plucking out the melody of the Fire-Lizard Queen... Song again. "Alright Thorn you read?" She commented as she started to play again.
Thorn took a few tries, before his pitch was on key for what was needed. But the pitch was right, and then the wailing sound of the fire-lizard singing along with the woman... could be heard.

Malchan tilted his head to one side as he watched her and Thorn, listening to them sing. A small smile quirked his lips, as he enjoyed the song thoroughly. The flitter singing along was a very nice touch ... though to be honest he hadn't known that flitters could sing. Well ... he learned something new! Actually ... a lot of new things, this day. For as long as the song lasted, the healer was lost in the moment, just enjoying things as they happened.
When she finished singing, he was fairly quick to pipe up and say something. Just in case she was fixing to launch into another song straight off. "That was marvelous! I can't say as I've ever heard it done like that ... how did you teach Thorn to sing? What gave you the idea?" He asked, before realizing what he was doing. This time, it was his turn to color slightly, though it wasn't nearly as obvious on him as it was on her. He promptly shut up, and grinned uncertainly for a moment. "Er ... apologies." he managed, quietly.

Lunesta cleared her throat finally, feeling a little dry. But she didn't comment on it and looked up at Thorn. Chuckling softly, "Little rascal" She teased as she scratched him beneath the chin. The healer was talking to her again, and she cocked her head to the side. "mmmm? well let's make it as simple as this... I would sing, and he would follow." She commented lightly and then laughed softly. "Finally I got tired of him sounding bad, so I taught him the voice work that I was taught." She commented lightly.
Thorn gave a low croon and reached out towards the healer. Rubbing his head against the healers neck. He crooned again and then his tongue darted out, tickling the mans face. "Well the idea came from Menolly... I envy her..." She whispered weakly. "Able to get free of her fathers Reigns, and leave the realm of the Half-Circle Hold...." She said in a fierce voice. Hands clenched in her lap, as she smiled ever so softly then. "It's alright Malchan!" She said softly.

Malchan just looked at Lunesta for a moment, completely unaware of the flitter's affections for the moment. Partly because he was used to having the affections of his own brown, Klar, and partly because his mind was churning along at top speed trying to understand something. It seemed he'd just stepped into a deep pot of ... something ... that she felt strongly about. And he wasn't even entirely sure what, exactly, that it was.
But it sure had her cooked up hot enough that even her hands were epressing the emotion of it. He didn't miss that part. Sooo ... now what? What dare he say? Dare he admit that he had no clue where that had come from? He was lost, and didn't know what to do or say.
Finally realizing that the flitter licking at him wasn't his, he grinned slightly, and patted the little beast, before stroking Thorn's head lightly. "Hi." He told the best. "That's ... interesting. So I guess he was inclined, so you taught him? Rather than trying to get him to speak up in the first place?" Malchan thought that was very intriguing ... and quite a one in a million chance. That she could play and sing, and to have happened to impress a flitter that wanted to sing, and was willing to learn. It really made for a dynamic duo.
But that last part ... it really had him confused. Breaking out of her father's reign? Leave Half-Circle? He was glad it was alright, or something... but he suspected that maybe she didn't get along so well with her father, nor liked her home much. And he quickly decided that this area was more than likely a very sensitive spot for her that he'd be best to not tread any further into. So, maybe in the other direction? If it wasn't a fatal move... "Are you liking it well enough here at Ista?" he inquired.

"yeah, Thorn was always humming around when people where singing. So I decided to teach him, so the little bugger didn't get himself in trouble for messing up a harpers song." She teased as she stroked a finger over the browns wingjoint. It made her smile that he was being so lovey dovey and nice to Malchan. It was something that for some reason, struck her as odd. Because she herself wanted to be such. She never really had gotten into relationships much, but for him... maybe she would?
She turned her attention towards him and then smiled softly. "I enjoy Ista Hold very well. I find the weather is a little difficult on my complexion, but I enjoy it none the less. It's fun to go off and help out look after the children, or work in the kitchens. I also enjoy looking for fire-lizard eggs. I hear they can be quite help, I should know... with Thorn and all." She commented non-chalantly as she stroked the browns wingjoint again.
Thorn looked back and forth between the two and creeled a little. Apparently he rather liked the idea of the two of them getting to know each other better.

Malchan smiled at the flitter, and scratched on him a bit more, before looking back at Lunesta. He listened to her talk some more, liking to hear her voice. He really did think she was an excellent singer, even if he knew that he couldn't truely convince her of that. Not without risking coming off as some weird cuckoo that needed slaying, anyway. And that still wouldn't convince her. So he simply didn't bother with that road. He just listened to her talk, and enjoyed it. Regardless of what she said. The topic was interesting, too, which helped. "A singing flitter." he marveled. That was something he was going to have to mention, when he got back to the weyr. That was something to see! And hear!
"I am glad that you like it here ..." he offered, for lack of anything else to say. At least she wasn't stuck here and hated being here, too. That would always be bad. And Malchan found himself wishing she would be happy ... as happy as she could be. Not that he could do anything about or for it. But still. "Finding firelizard eggs is always fun." He agreed. Though he did prefer to stay away from the kids and the cooking...
"Where would you go looking for those, around here, anyway?" He asked, out of curiosity, before being distracted by Thorn's comments. "What is it, little guy?" He asked, wondering what had the flitter so upset that it was creeling. "Um ... maybe you ought to take him back? I don't think he's happy." Malchan said, looking at Lunesta.

Lunesta's eyes where downcasted as she smiled softly. Thorn and his games, the silly little brown. She scooped up her firelizard and pulled him back. "Uhhh Thorn helps me sometimes, specially when he's the father of the clutch..." She commented with a soft smile. Then she turned and looked off to the side a little. "Thorn does like you, he's just being... thorn.." She said finally as she stroked her fingers over the creatures hide.
She wanted to believe everything would be alright, she wanted to believe that nothing would happen. But for some reason, some feeling of dread was coming over her. She got feelings like this sometimes, but they passed. SHe just hoped that this time the feelings of de'ja'vu, wouldn't prove deadly. She cleared her throat and then looked back towards the healer. "Well.. It was nice talking to you... Ummm I wouldn't... mind talking in the future... If the cream is really helpful I will probably contact you for more?"
She said this softly, so softly that her voice was almost not capable of being heard. Healer boy better play close attention to this shy little lady.

Malchan considered her quietly for a moment, sensing the change in her mannerisms. It was very strange. It was as if she'd just gotten the fear of getting caught doing something wrong. And as far as he could tell, nothing had changed. Nothing at all. Was talking to people against the rules for her? Was that why she was so lonely looking? Malchan didn't know. That was a rather strange thing to have heaped on a person.
And now she seemed to want him to go away. He'd oblige her, even though he was more than content to sit there and visit. He rather liked her, he thought. Actually ... he liked her a lot. It was a shame she was so far away from the weyr, or he would have considered maybe visiting. But just being around seemed to make her uncomfortable...
Malchan just simply didn't know what to think. "Well ... okay." He said, finally. "I suppose I do have places to be, eventually." He mused, before wondering if she'd be offended if he had Klar swing by and drop off a letter. "Okay. If you decide that stuff works for you ... just send me a note, and I'll get you more of it." He assured her, finally, before getting to his feet and dusting off. "It was very nice talking to you, miss. And you do play wonderfully." he added, for good measure. "Keep up the good work. Keep an eye on her, Thorn." He said, to the flitter, before winking at the both of them with a grin and ambling off across the yard.
