Strength being an only man's ally at sea, Kathal is quite bulky. However, it seems even these long hours weren't enough to give the boy defining muscles. But this does not concern Kathal. His concern is if his strength is evident. And most people would usually assume so when their eyes first set on him.
His fair complexion has also grown tanned from his long hours at sea. Against this color, his blond hair almost sparkles like gold. His hair, when worn out, falls past the nape of his neck. But Kathal binds his strands by a bow not wanting it to hinder his vision. However, it seems some parts of his hair does just that. He has several large clumps of hair which fall just over his right upper lash. While two three clumps of hair lengthen well past his left eye. Kathal is always brushing these aside from his brown eyes.
Kathal's form of attire is just as simplistic as the boy. He prefers clothing which well reveal his most valued assests (his muscles). This usually involves the boy venturing town with nothing more than a pair of britches and boots. On occasions, Kathal will sport a vest. And during colder seasons he'll wear what is necessary to keep himself warm.
History:
Kathal's life begins at a Sea Hold. He was born the youngest out of four siblings. These siblings being male, Kathal's earliest ideas and then on were already out of balanced. And this was because his father was a very traditional man. He believed men and women were appointed certain jobs. Fishing being the major task, which required strength he believe women didn't possess, his father felt maternal tasks were more suited for them. After all, that was how their forefathers lived, so why not now?
Anyhow, all of Kathal's younger days were spent at sea. He fished, he gutted fish, he...ate fish. Yes, his life was very eventful. But the boy wanted more. During his few of the leisure times he had, Kathal would listen to the the old Watchrider and his adventures. Such stories fascinated him, gave him something to dream toward.
But one day, Kathal wished to make this dream a reality. During his free time, he spoke to the Watchrider about wanting to get searched. This dilemma was easily solved because the Watchrider's dragon just so happened to be blue.
But during this conversation, the dragon gazed intently after the boy. And when the question of how Kathal was to be searched, the Watchrider explained to him that the task had already been done. His dragon had felt he could be a possible candidate.
This interaction had happened a few months before the plague. So, when the sickness took its toil, Kathal had no chance of standing before a clutch. But then they were informed of a Gold Hatchling in Ista Weyr. So, some of the available candidates were sent to Ista Weyr, Kathal being among them.
Personality:
There's only one word that can best describe Kathal: Arrogance. And such confidence can only be spurred by years of success. Because of his strength, he was able to conquer the world of fishing. Well, at least as far as he knew. Has this not been the case, the boy would have been ill fated. His strength is his only advantage after all.
Arrogance isn't the boy's only unattractive trait. He's also short tempered. And this can be spurred by almost anything that makes the boy feel threatened. Those who reveal their advantages (consciously or unconsciously) in whatever skills he lacks will be dealt in anger. This is his way of hiding his insecurities.
Lastly, the boy's views of the world are very narrowed minded. Growing up in a nest of males, he was exposed to their mind set and took them to heart. Women, for instances, not being seen as higher ranking then him. He was always exposed to women doing traditional work-like being mothers. So, when he sees them out of their habitat, he expresses distaste of this. So, it is expected that he'd also look down upon those who don't use their hands in the same manner as him.
Pets:
Name: Crabby
Description:
img.photobucket.com/albums/v148/dotta/scan0016.jpg
Medium brown, shading darker along his rides and the front of his wings. He is a smaller brown, but well proportioned, albeit with a slightly short tail.
Personality:
Isn't it better to sit and watch the flowers? Never is this firelizard in a hurry, and he won't use three wingbeats if one will do the trick. Yes, he's lazy. On top of that, he sometimes doesn't seem quite...right... Or maybe quite all there. In fact, he spends as much time as possible sitting and daydreaming (preferably on his human's shoulder...it's a comfortable perch).
For Riders:
Dragon name: Nebmaeth
Dragon color: Bronze
Dragon age: Hatchling
Hatching season: Summer
Color code: 99AA33
Dragon description:
Nebmaeth is a medium-sized bronze, with a stronger than usual greenish tint to his hide. This tarnishing is particularly strong across his wingshoulders and upper back. In proportions, he is nothing unusual and, at first glance, might appear quite the typical bronze.
In flight, he has all of the stamina of a bronze...and all of the lack of maneuverability. In fact, he is a particularly efficient flyer, easily sustaining the entire fall and able to keep up with most of the golds. The downside is...guess who's likely to be assigned the longest sweep patterns. He is unduly proud of his unusual stamina. Noticeable up close are his slightly longer than usual talons. Unfortunately, he is rather more prone to breaking a talon or even losing one than most dragons...it's a good job they grow back.
Dragon personality:
Nebmaeth is bronze to the bone, and let none forget it. Blues and greens are lesser beings, browns are to be tolerated and queens courted. The hierarchy of the Weyr invades all of his thoughts. Because of this, oddities and unusual colors bother him a little. He doesn't know quite where to place the mutants, and tends to, eventually, kind of class them by size. He expects his rider to treat their riders in much the same manner.
He is, of course, ambitious, and will, thus, push to be the best he can possibly be. Despite his apparent dislike of the so-called 'lessers' he pushes them too, he would make a good, if not likeable, wingleader's dragon. Of course, he will chase any queen that rises, possibly trying before he is really ready, both for the clutch and the status.
Should he catch her, a different side of his personality will come out. He will turn into a dutiful father, guarding the eggs fiercely and insisting on meeting all of 'his' weyrlings...and, if possible, pushing them to be the best pairs, too. Push, push, push. That's what Nebmaeth does.
Despite that, he shows a tenderness and affection to his rider...as long as nobody's looking. When he's genuinely nice to somebody he asks them not to tell. It would, after all, ruin his tough reputation.
Other:
Disregard the HORRIBLE black darkening...I'll redraw him at a later date. Also, as you could probably already tell, this is my first attempt at rping at a non anime site. I know, so sad...So please be kind to me? :3 But not that kind...don't want him accepted if he's sucky....
