It was probably an entire candlestick before the dawn and a single man stood in the wide hallways of the Weyrling Barracks, practically able to hear simultaneous content snoring of each and every one of the new Weyrlings. The Hatching Feast had gone off without a hitch, happily without any of the drama of the Hatching itself. There had been a morose undertone to the whole thing, but, for the most part, each of the new Weyrlings- and even some of those who were left Standing - seemed to have themselves a good time. Once the feast was over, they had all shuffled back to their rooms, to snooze away. Adorable.
Well, now that the fun part was over, the real work needed to begin. Kirith was sitting just outside the barracks, waiting for S'koin's signal. A mental tug...a mumble that sounded distinctly like 'go' and Kirith was on his haunches, chest swelling, neck expanding...
WAKE UP! The dragon roared so loudly into the minds of the dragonets that it would have been impossibly for them to remain asleep; that coupled with his roar would have surely awoken their little wittle riders-to-be.
S'koin himself winced inside the barracks, shaking his head to clear it of Kirith's wake-up call. Loud wherry. To increase the effectiveness of their sneak attack, the brownrider rushed up and down the hall, slamming his fist against every one of the doors of the rooms, ensuring that indeed everyone one of them were awake.
"Everyone out of their rooms, now," He yelled, stopping back in the center of the hall. Next to each room, there were rows of buckets according to how many Weyrlings were occupying the room, the sizes of the buckets set out depending on the color of the dragonet.
"I'm not hearing any mooooovement!"

W'nec had celebrated long into the night, and he was fast asleep when S'koin's bellow penetrated his dreams. Simultaneously, Neginoth woke with a squeak, startled by the adult brown's command. Neginoth was surprised, but it took only a few moments for him to feel awake, while W'nec groaned and tried to hide under the covers. Lessons, mine! What are we going to learn today? Ooh...I'm hungry! Neginoth nudged his rider, rolling him off the cot.
I don't know, Neginoth. W'nec stumbled about the room getting ready, then led his dragon outside. There were buckets waiting, and he fed Neginoth, whose curious questions stopped as he ate.

F'xia gave a snarling growl as she sat up. After her impression, she had gone almost straight to bed. No partying for her, for one she wasn't stupid. She knew she was gonna need a lot of sleep, after the exhaustion of impression. Why make yourself worse by partying all night long? She had a good bit of sleep in her, and hadn't even stayed at the Hatching Feast longer then an hour or two. So she had much more sleep then some of the others. The surprised shriek of Oweith, is what had awakened her. The fifteen year old young woman shifted and threw her legs out of the bed.
Dressing herself in rather aggressive motions, she dressed quickly and turned to Oweith. It's alright Oweith, no one is attacking just the Weyrling master getting us up. She commented to the little green. Doing her best not to roll her eyer. Though the terror of Oweith pulsed through her, F'xia knew she was better then /that/. She had to rise above such things and portray herself as the manner befitting a soon to be rider. Though she had two full turns before that happened.
Oweith finally calmed, and shifted from her sleeping spot. Slinking slowly outside with her rider. The little green was the calmest most subserviant green that had been seen yet! She calmly waited for the Weyrling master to call them for food. Even though her heart was still pounding and her eyes swirling with fear. She was awake, she was awake.

And'l was startled awake by a sudden loud sound at the door. This made him dive under his covers wanting to hide. Though he was immdeatly uncovered by his firelizards pulling the cover off him. When he opened his eye's he was looking right into those of Gopeth. The blue said to him Alright Mine now time to get up. You can't hide in here today. He stayed where he was and the blue reached foward biting the side of And'l's shirt and half drug his bonded right out of his bed.
And'l stumbled out his bed and said " Alrigth Alright Gopeth." And'l climbed out of bed and got dressed. He neverously looked around. Gopeth looked at him and said Mine don't even think about trying to hide today. Because I am not going to let you. And'l looked the blue neverously and said " But..." No buts Mine. You will not hide today. Even if I have to push and drag you everywhere. And'l just sighed and smiled a small smile and siad " Ok Gopeth. You win." The blue just nodded and And'l led him outside the room to were the buckets were. He began to feed the blue.

Nebrona was perhaps more fortunate than her fellows, being spared the audible roars of Kirith and his rider from the space of her own weyr.
It was Allirth who startled awake at the brown's call, and decided to pass on the favor. So instead of a gentle wake-up call, she shouted Wake up, Nebrona! and huriedly stepped back off her couch, away from her rider's cot as Nebrona sprang upright, looking for the threat as she came up out of a sound sleep.
Finding only the white dragon staring up at her, Nebrona gave her a dirty look and quickly dressed. "You know, making your rider jump out of her skin isn't a good way to keep her alive to enjoy." She advised the dragon as they made their way to the Weyrling Barracks to meet up with the others.
Sorry. Which might have been more effective if Allirth had sounded anything but. I'll do better next time. Maybe something like 'Our teacher's dulcet voice summons us, let us hasten to answer at once'?
Nebroan snorted, shaking her head. "Something like that, love." She paused in momentary uncertainty as they reached the barracks, and saw the weyrlings feeding their dragons out of the buckets left outside their rooms. Where would Allirth's be?
Only one way to find out. "Sir, which can I take from for her?" She asked S'koin directly, "I don't want to leave anyone short if we take from the wrong place."
((OOC:presuming here, of course, that he wouldn't have left buckets of bloody meat outside of Nebrona's (normal) weyr))

The sounds of grunts and snores could be heard accustomed with the occasional stirring of sheets. With the feast only being the night before, it was understandable that the candidates would still be exhausted. Their Hatching day was stressful as well as exciting, and the celebration afterward was filled with much food and drinks.
Anyhow, the candiates occupying this particular room was sleeping soundly and quietly. The room itself was veiled in a thick silence...except for the obnoxious sounds lingering from the mighty dragonet, Nebmaeth.
K'al's gazed fell upon his dragonet and he let out a snort of himself. For such a pompous dragon, he wasn't very dignified in his sleep. The weyrling's eyes then shifted to the brown mass curled up on his stomach. He smiled then. The dimglow was actually cute when-
And that was when Nebameth's head snapped up. His eyes whirled frantically now yellow from the surprise. K'al heard it too, the Brown dragon's cry. However, he was more alarmed from Nebmaeth's reaction then the voice in his head.
With a soft chirp, Crabby lifted his head also, but only because of K'al's jolt. Perhaps this was all a dream maybe? Maybe he could steal a few more minutes of slumber? When the harsh knock sounded on the door, K'al knew that wish had vanished.
The young boy groaned, only to have it twist into a horrified cry. The large beast had stepped upon him, and his talons dug into K'al's flesh.
"Shards! What are you doing?"
You were in my way. He replied.
And with that said, the beast's feet touched the hard floor. K'al, on the other hand, clutched his stomach as he rolled on his side, facing his dragon.
"You're dead, Bronze! O-ouch." K'al inhaled harshly through his gritted teeth.
Nebmaeth craned his necked toward him and gazed at him for a moment. He then snorted and looked away.
It just a scratch.
"A scratch? I'm gushing blood here!"
You should be more concern for my well being.
The proud Bronze exited the room, forcing his way through a brown rider and his dragon as to not be a follower.
Meanwhile, T'ik who hadn't had an awkward wake up call, was already feeding her dragonet. She was feeding her starving Aenarith. No words were said among one another- only the dragonet beaming affectionately at her rider and her rider patting her affectionately. Her hand then flew to her stomach as it roared in hunger. She hoped they all got fed soon too.

K'ton wasn't woken by his dragonet's frantic howls or by the banging at their dormroom door, but by the squeals of a Weyrling nearby. He groaned and threw his furs more tightly over his head, snuggling into his pillow. He had almost been back to sleep, but K'al and his bronze's had made it impossible. Even Ytelth opened a sleepy lid, gazing around himself in a daze. Not even Kirith's bellow had stirred him, but rather K'ton's venture into wakefulness.
"S'happenin'?" He groaned, a sleepy eye peeking out from under his blankets. Ytelth gave a loud yawn and shook his head, looking over at Nebmaeth and his Weyrling who were heading out the door, pushing one of the browns out of the way. They were such jerks, K'ton thought, feeling his bronze echo his sentiments.
I think...I think we're supposed to wake up. I think we're supposed to go outside. K'ton, I'm hungry... The bronze said, shaking himself off as he stood, looking around.
The door was slightly ajar and they could easily hear the Acting Weyrling Master snapping orders to the Weyrlings already gathering outside.
"Be smart about it, feed your Weyrlings quickly, we've got lots of things to cover today. Be thankful, for you're responsible for your dragonets meals from now on," He barked to the general mass of newly Impressed. From behind him, and Kirith grumbled almost warningly, came the new queen pair. S'koin turned just enough so that he could get a look at her.
His dark eyes narrowed by far farther than they had previously, his eyes dancing across her, sizing her up. Apparently, he didn't find what he was looking for and huffed, rolling his eyes.
"There, girl," He snapped impatiently, jerking his head towards the rooms where the bronzes and browns shared. There was a single bucket set out by itself far enough away from the rest that was larger than the ones set out for the two bronze dragonets. "Hurry up, the rest-" And he paused, his eyes lingering on the smaller greens and blues who had by this time, if they'd woken up at Kirith's calls, were probably almost finished with their meals. "-will not take kindly to waiting, no matter how shiny your queen happens to be."
From just a few meters away, H'rik found himself very displeased by the attitude S'koin was exhibiting towards the-er, gold? pair. He thought for a moment that he should treat her with a bit more respect but...thought better of it. If he walked on egg shells around Nebrona, was it?, then she'd probably come to expect that from the rest of them.
Still...he could have phrased things a bit better. Then again, he was treating the rest of the lot like they were worthless, including the bronzes...
"Hurry up K'ton of Ytelth and K'al of Nebmaeth. You're both future bronzeriders, you should have assembled far faster than any of the other Weyrlings out here!" He snarled, glaring at small K'ton as he ducked his head, face flushed, leading Ytelth out.
Who did he think he was?! While K'ton had no real scope of rank or hierarchy yet, he still felt keenly humiliated that S'koin chose to specifically single out himself and K'al who had done nothing but assemble like the other Weyrlings. Why was he only picking on the ranking Weyrlings like Nebrona and him? It wasn't right!
Maybe he just wants everyone to think that we're equal. Ytelth said, his voice comically pausing between chews as much as a human would be forced to.
K'ton both thought he was right and wrong, but said nothing nor even spared a glare for the Weyrling Master, his father's teaching getting the better of him.
Oh, look, H'rik, I can balance this bucket on my head.Asanith said, shoving her snout into the empty bucket and jerking her head up. Blood and the remains of her breakfast flowed across her face, her neck, her body in a goey red waterfall.
"Oh, Asanith! Now you're all dirty!" He groaned a bit louder than he probably should have.
"Perfect, H'rik. You've allowed your dragonet to become thoroughly soiled, I do hope you're proud of yourself," He said coolly, approaching the pair and standing just in the middle of the throng of assembled Weyrlings.
"Like H'rik," S'koin pitched his voice up, booming in the enclosed space. "I'm sure that all of you will make a fine mess of your dragonet. That's perfectly fine. And perfectly helpful to what I'll be teaching you next.
"I hope that each of you remembers your Candidatedom...It was only yesterday, after all, that each of you louts managed to Impress...For those of you who do, think back on to what you learned about dragon anatomy; I'm going to going into detail of what -really- goes on inside of a dragon for as long as they'll sleep," He said ominously. "But first, they must finish their breakfasts, so hurry it up. But not too quickly. Like they were at the Hatching, they're ravenous now, but don't let their hunger get the better of them. I don't want them suffocating to death on their second meal.
"After you all have finished feeding your dragonets, we will proceed to the lake. It's bath time after this, chaps."
Kirith, could you ask Kwerth's rider to meet us down at the lake, please?
The massive brown did not give a verbal reply, but relayed the response.
Kwerth says that they will come.
Good.

The Weyrlingmaster's attitude set Nebrona's teeth on edge, but she took a firm hold on her anger and reined it back in. "Yes, sir. Thank you, sir." Nebrona headed for the indicated bucket without another word. She suspected what was going on here -she'd seen it before from drill sergeants with a new flock of recruits. The authority figure establishing himself, putting his charges in their places. Nothing they would do would be right enough, or quick enough. Her suspicion was confirmed when he immediately sought out the bronzeriders in the group- the next 'highest-ranking' of the new weyrlings besides herself and Alirth. Stopping trouble early, or reinforcing the idea that they were expected to be twice as good as the rest, whether or not it was actually possible. While she looked forward to K'al learning a thing or two, she just hoped the other poor boy caught on to what was going on here, didn't take it too personally.
Bear with it. Allirth's voice flowed into her mind, echoing her rider's thoughts on the matter. Bear with him, and put him behind us. The queen was already taking small, neat gulps of meat -Nebrona spared a moment to be thankful that her dragon was apparently a neat one, unlike poor H'rik's- and the pair kept a wary eye on S'koin as they tried to stealthily balance the need for speed with the possibilty of getting called out for eating too fast. Nebrona only gave her dragon another piece after the first had been swallowed, and surprisingly, and began enjoying the game of spotting the exact moment that happened.
Of course, Allirth's pleasure the moment baths were mentioned probably helped a great deal. They finished up, Nebrona put the bucket aside with the rest, and stood beside her dragon looking straight ahead as they waited to be taken to the lake. The trick was finding the right spot to look at- neither directly at, nor away from the brownrider. Directness meant attracting attention, away meant she had something to hide. It might not help, depending on how determined he was to take her down a peg, but it was the best response she knew.

(( Fail post AHOY!)) F'xia had gone unto feeding Oweith, the dragon ate rather lady like. It was surprising at the fact that Oweith was eating the way she was. Her head cocked to the side as she watched and continued to feed Oweith. She was rather calm herself, and knew that eating soon would be in her best interest. But she wouldn't be doing it soon. She would probably end up going through her lessons today in a stupor, but she was semi-dead at the momnet.
As much as she had slept, Impression drained a lot from you. Oh well, she would go about her day and do the best she could. She stretched and then stood, and looked towards the others. She was ready for the rest of the day.

Z'war had been in his weyr, when the weyrlingmaster's dragon called them. "I guess he needs a second demonstration dragon for the weyrlings." He mounted Kwerth quickly, although for once, he bothered with the straps. He didn't want the weyrlings to see him flying 'naked', even if he could manage well enough without. The old blue circled once, then glided down towards the lake. Not that he was that old, although Z'war knew that seeing the weyrlings would make him feel about as old as, oh, Rukbat. He contemplated circling once more so as to show off his landing, then decided against it, backwinging to the shore of the small lake that was used to bathe the young dragons. It was not really large enough for the full grown beasts, who were generally washed in the open ocean. For the dragonets, it would do. OOC: Ista does not have a proper 'lake'. Adults generally bathe in the sea .

Cusyth squeaked in entirely undignified manner and jerked into wakefulness so suddenly that she nearly fell off her couch. Ke’ran immediately sat up to see what was bothering her dragon. It quickly became clear when someone pounded on the door, it was time to get up and the dragon who woke Cusyth was just as charming as the person who was going down the corridor trying to break the doors with his fist. Shame, she’d hoped for a lie in this morning. Good thing she was used to getting up early, though she still wasn’t completely used to Istan time.
Rolling out of bed Ke’ran quickly picked up some clothes, ordinary workaday brown wool leggings and a light shirt in a different shade of brown. ‘I’M AWAKE!’ She bellowed in response to the yelling outside her door as she jammed her feet into her boots. While Ke’ran had been dressing herself Cusyth had calmed down enough to get off her couch and stand beside it as if awaiting some kind of inspection, this was lent a somewhat ridiculous air by Insi, as the pale fizelizard had draped herself over the back of Cusyth’s head. ‘Are we ready girls?’ Ke’ran asked the pair of greens. Insi chirped happily while Cusyth looked more doubtful. I think so. the dragonet replied with a note of uncertainty in her voice.
Ke’ran obeyed the instuction to feed her dragonet with aclarity and Cusyth was all too willing to eat as fast as Ke’ran could get meat to her, both having decided it would be a lot less messy if Ke’ran was to feed Cusyth by the handful rather than the green just sticking her muzzle in the bucket. Cusyth stayed fairly clean and once the green had gone over her bonded with her tongue Ke’ran was relatively free of gore as well. However both took the news that they would be bathing next with relief.
Uu’an sat up and looked around the room wildly, trying to work out where he was and what was going on. From the insistent demands that we wake up I would assume that someone wants our presence immediately. Tebeth supplied, rising from his couch with dignity. However I think you are supposed to dress first. Tebeth added as Uu’an stumbled out off bed and looked around.
With only a little more prompting from Tebeth Uu’an managed to get himself sorted out and join the growing crowd of weyrlings who were feeding their dragons. Thankfully he managed to get Tebeth fed without attracting the attention of the weyrlingmaster. The man seemed determined to deflate every ego, regardless of whether or not it was actually inflated, so Uu’an would probably get his turn to be yelled at in the later parts of the lesson. That man is a runnerbeast’s bum Uu’an stated, and I hope we humans get some food sometime soon. he added. Tebeth snorted. I suggest you don’t share your opinion with anyone else. the brown cautioned.

K'al emerged from the his room with his stomach decorated in band aids. The boy rubbed at one with his index finger, and a sour look on his face. Looking ahad, his dragon was already making his way to his designated bowl.
That girl had made the mistake of questioning S'kon. And she was reprimanded for that. The boy almost snickered at this, but then the man's wrath was directed on him and the other bonzerider. Both he and his dragon shared a frown.
Are you going to let him get away with such disrespect, Mine?
The boy smirked.
"What's the big deal, old man? Aren't you suppose to be nice to me?"
T'ik threw her head up then. A few others seemed to do the same thing. She had a bewildered look on her face as she stared at the bulky bronzerider. Was...he out of his mind?

It took every last bit of Nebrona's discipline not to be one of those who looked up and stared- but, Faranth, how she wanted to! Had Impression made Kathal lose what little brains he'd started with? Sure, she had issues with the brownrider's tactics, but what did he think S'koin was here to do- see to their every whim?
He probably did.
Nebrona kept her eyes firmly averted from the scene, but her ears fully open for the coming explosion. Alright, so maybe she couldn't help sneaking little glances over there- she didn't want to miss a moment of what Kathal had coming to him.
I must say, Nebrona, this side of you is more than a little disturbing. Allirth drawled in her rider's mind.
Only a wish to see justice be done, m'dear. Nebrona replied sanctimoniously.
Right.
