Nebrona was taking advantage of a block of S’koin- and Yselka-free time to catch up on her Allirth-notes, while their subject waded in the shallows. Allirth loved the water, and while the queen was distinctly displeased about the lack of accompanying bath, it was enough to occupy her while her rider wrote. Not that she had much to write. Allirth was pretty much following typical gold behavior thus far, in size and attitude.
Of course, note-taking wasn’t the only reason they’d come out for some alone time. Nebrona had gotten letters from home today, and they’d put her in a- well, not quite a bad mood, but close. The letter from her mother had brought the comforting familiarity of familial news, but roused an entirely new feeling of homesickness that immersion in her link with Allirth helped, but didn’t entirely erase. She’d also gotten one from her former fiancé, full of the cheerful humor of a good friend- and news that he’d just married a girl he’d met after she left. Oh, she was happy for him, and she hadn’t expected him to pine away for her forever, but it hurt to be replaced like that- and so quickly!
So here she was down at the beach, using the twin guises of work and Allirth to break her dreary mood, not sure if she wanted someone to come and make her feel better, or to just shut out the world for a while. Nothing had worked yet, and Nebrona suspected that Allirth would soon raise a fuss about that bath if she didn’t feel better soon.
Don’t be silly. Queens don’t fuss. We alert people to situations that need corrected. Allirth pronounced primly, but ruined the effect by chortling- or so Nebrona equated the feeling that she broadcast.

Tehnel wandered down the beach again, kicking sand up into the air with every other step, dejectedly. Today she just wasn't feeling overly cheerful. And it was a good thing that she was wearing closed-toes sandals, or she might have gotten something sharp in her foot a long time ago.
Pacing along quietly behind her, Spirit wandered from one mini dune to the next, leaving little pawprints everywhere he walked in the damp sand. The feline really disliked the beach, but he didn't trust his pet to wander alone, either. So many strange people around. Normally Tehnel took a runner to get to the beach ... but today she had been in such a melencholy mood that she had actually walked the whole way ... which meant Spirit was getting tired. It was a long walk, for someone with legs as short as his was. And he wasn't a feline that allowed being carried very often. Today might be an exception to that rule, though ... if he was ever going to follow her back to the Weyr, that is.
Tehnel heaved a sigh, and stopped walking, finally. If it hadn't been for the huge expance of water stretching out before her, she'd have had no idea exactly how far she had walked. But as it was ... she had gone pretty far. Probably time to get headed back again. There was likely some chore or other that someone was expecting her to do.
And then she spotted the girl sitting on the beach. Writing, it looked like. All alone? Oh. Tehnel only then saw the pale form of a dragonet playing in the water. That girl. Tehnel couldn't help but feel slightly jealous, but the feeling was fleeting. After all ... at least she didn't have caring for a baby dragon heaped up on top of chores, too. At least ... not yet. It could wait.
Thus slightly cheered, Tehnel wandered over. "Hi." She said, quietly, so as not to alarm or startle the other girl.
Spirit puffed a breath, and sat down on the sand, despite its being damp. At last. She'd stopped walking! Silly child. Curling his dark tail around his feet, the feline flicked one ear back momentarily, before returning it to attention, watching the girls with big yellow eyes.

Nebrona had already been alerted to the other girl’s arrival by Allirth, who seemed to have a fascination for candidates that was starting to make her wonder if white queens could have Search potential too. But she waited until she heard the soft greeting aloud, not wanting to intrude if someone else had come here for quiet and solitude. “Hello.” She replied, looking up to see who it was. She thought she recognized the girl from candidacy, though she’d largely avoided new arrivals once the gold candidates had started pouring in. Charred if she could remember her name, though.
She was momentarily saved from finding something else to say when Allirth left the water to come up on the beach, curling up near her rider to watch the two girls with interest. Would probably insist that the sand drying to her wet hide be cleaned off two, if Nebrona was any judge. But the girl was still there, so- “He insist on taking you for a walk,” a nod at the feline, “or did you just come for the view?”

Tehnel smiled slightly, with a wry twist as she looked back at Spirit. "I don't walk him." She told Nebrona, with a small grin. "He walks me. Can't you see the whip in his paw, and the evil twinkle in his big yellow eyes?" She pointed first at the feline's paws, and then his head.
Spirit blinked slowly, and then looked up at his pet. He just stared at her for a long moment, never blinking, before looking at Nebrona again, with no comment. For a moment he just sat like that, and then lifted one paw, shook the sand out of it, and started licking the backside of it.
Tehnel shook her head and laughed. "I'm out here cause I started thinking ... while walking. And had no idea where I was going. I just ... ended up here, is all. Escaping the weyr, I guess." she admitted. "They're liable to find me right quick, though, aren't they?" She asked, in mock worry, never mentioning that Nebrona was now one of 'them'. She was just being silly. Trying to be in a lighter mood than she had been. Besides ... Nebrona was sitting next to that mock gold. She was going to be a leader here shortly, and no one in thier right mind was going to be nasty to a future leader that could make thier life hell from then to eternity.

"I won't tell them. In fact..." Nebrona made a show of looking around the empty beach for listeners. "I'm hiding out too. They'll never think to look here." Even more ridiculous in her case than Tehnel's, as anyone who needed to find her could just contact Allirth at any time. "Any thoughts in particular got your attention?" She asked curiously, seizing the distraction that Tehnel provided.

And'l soon found his way out to the beach. Though it was more Gopeth found his way for him. And'l had agreed to leave his room and go to the beach. Though Gopeth was hoping to find someone he could get And'l to talk to. Gopeth spoted Nebrona and Tehnel before And'l did so and position himself so that he could keep his bonded going in the right direction. And'l though saw them and when he tried to turn around he was blocked by Gopeth who as usal had to grab And'l by the sleeve and guide him to where he needed to go.
Gopeth said comfrontingly to And'l Come on Mine. It will be ok. I promise if they are mean to you. I will hide you form them ok. And'l looked at the blue strangly because that was not somthing he normally said. Though he knew that Gopeth would never lie so he trusted him. Gopeth was hoping these people would be nice. Becuase he did not want his around them if the were not. And'l walked toward them neverously with the blue in tow and said to them " Hello. How are you two doing."

Tahnel's face quirked slightly, as she heard that the other girl was also hiding. Well ... who would have thought? The one lucky enough to not only Impress, but inpress a ranker ... and she was hiding? What a strange thing to find.
Feeling fairly comfortable, Tehnel strolled over and sat down next to Nebrona. "Ah, well ... I was kinda thinking back on the hatching, and all that ... sorta stuff." She remarked. There really wasn't any need to go into greater detail ... Nebrona had been there. She had seen it all happen. But Tehnel also had the added thoughts and wonderings of why she hadn't impressed, too.
Spirit wandered over a little closer, too, before sitting down again and turning his big yellow staring gaze onto Gopeth as the blue dragon approached with his wierd person. The big grey-on-grey tabby just sat there, without any kind of comment of any sort, and just stared, tail wrapped around his front feet. His pet was safe, for the moment.
