T'ron let go of Silver, as the two cats howled and tackled each other, backing off a step. He just let them have at it. Strange beasts. But he wasn't going to interfere and get himself ripped to shreds in the process. No sir. His brows ooched up a little in a slightly worried fashion, before he backed off another step and looked at Yselka. "Cats." He agreed.
Silver, for her part, was glad to be freed from her scruff, and happily rolled over onto her back as her brother pounced. Forelegs wrapping around him, she started trying to catch his ear in her teeth, even as she started kicking with her back feet. Again, all in play.
"Flitter tails might actually be a better choice." T'ron commented, watching. "Since they're uncatchable."

"And then we would have two incredibly frustrated kittens," Yselka pointed out.
She was not worried about the two fluffballs hurting one another. They were just acting the way young felines always did, and while their claws were bigger, so was everything else.
They were both the most gorgeous things, she thought, regarding them. Quite different for littermates, although some of it might be gender differences, too.

"Well ... it'll keep them occupied?" T'ron offered, shrugging. "There are plenty of flitters around to chase ... though I imagine after awhile our flitters will start to get a little on the tired side from always having to be on guard..." He mused. "If they start that, we might have to make a feltar-proof perch for them to sleep in."
Silvercloud disengaged from her brother, scooting out from under him to go pelting out across the dusty weyrbowl, all four legs reaching and stretching to propell her as fast she she could go. Being a kitten, it wasn't very fast considered, but she was still going faster than T'ron reckoned he could run.
"I hope she doesn't get lost, doing that." He mentioned, watching her go. Getting a moment's inspiration, he reached for Imp, and had the flitter go after her. Keep an eye on her silly furry rump.
The brown flitter appeared in a pop of cold air over the weyrbowl, and went winging after the silvery blob that was the feltar cub, resigned to his new duty. The flitter had been sunning and snoozing on the weyrledge, and wasn't terribly happy to have been interrupted.

"As far as Rebel is concerned, he already has one of those. It's called Lyeth."
Not like I mind
Awake, are we?
Rascal, of course, took off full pelt after his sister.
"Or fall in the weyrlings' pond, or..." They were heading vaguely that direction, weren't they.

Realizing she was getting chased, by not only Rascal but by a pretty brown flitter too, Silver cloud paused in her run, head going up as she looked back, ears perked. "Mrrrrow?" She asked, kinking the tip of her tail off to one side. As they caught up, she flailed her tail, and then took off running again, chasing something that apparently only she could see. Or thought she saw.
Imp, for his part, was not terribly impressed. Why was he eggsitting a couple of giant felines, again?? He spun in a slow circle, allowing Rascal to run past underneath, and then resumed pursuit ... now that he was sure that second feline wasn't going to try and snatch him out of the air. Where were they going, anyway?
"Very true." T'ron agreed. "But not all flitters have dragon friends to perch on. Though, I'll wager they'd get one pretty quick, if only by proxy." For a moment, he was silent, and then he sighed. "I hope they don't fall into the pond. I'd hate to have to try and dry those two off."

What neither Yselka nor T'ron knew at this point was that feltar have one thing very much *not* in common with domestic cats.
They like water.
No, make that, they love water. And as soon as Rascal got the scent of the pond, he lost interest in his sister, changing course to pad that way.
Fortunately, feltar also have waterproof coats that dry quickly.
Umm.
Make that adult feltar....

Silvercloud turned, and promptly went to chase her brother all the way to the pond. She stopped at the edge of it, and sniffed the water tentatively. And then she sprang almost straight up in a happy burst of energy, only to splash happily down in the water. Water flew in all directions, driving Imp higher into the air to avoid getting wet.
He chirred at the two, dissapprovingly, as he swooped low again and zipped overhead, watching the kittens swim.
The bits of them that were above water looked like sodden wherries. But the bits underneath were more fluffy looking than usual. And that made the flitter quite curious what was going on. Why was that? Was the water magic, on oversized feline cubs??
"I ... think that splash we just heard was our cubs." T'ron mentioned, with a grimmace before he started walking in that direction.

Yselka walked to the lake, expecting to see two sodden cats pulling themselves out of the water.
Not two cats thoroughly enjoying their...
She laughed. "Oh man. They're water cats!" It certainly seemed that way. "I hope they don't stay in too long, though. They don't have guard hairs on their coats yet..."
Rascal swam a little further out, challenging his sister to join him with a meeeeeow.

T'ron groaned. "Now we'll never keep them out of the pools. The baths will be chock full of kitty hair, especially the heated ones!" He grumped, crossing his arms over his chest as he frowned down at the kittens playing in the water. But, despite his attempt at being grouchy, the tiniest of grins was tugging incessantly at the corner of his mouth.
Silver, for her part, rose to the challenge, and headed out after her brother, pawing at the water with all four feet. Swimming was an art ... and one she hadn't mastered just yet. Not to mention her coat was awfully heavy. But she still made substantial progress in chasing her brother across the surface of the water.
Imp, entirely confused as to what was expected of him now, circled back and landed on T'ron's shoulder, scolding the kittens from there. Didn't they know how to be decent, civilized felines? Didn't they know felines didn't like water??!

Yselka just couldn't stop laughing. Rascal doubled back to the shore, trying to leave his sister out there in the water
"I can't believe it. Cats *hate* water...uh oh. You do realize what they'll do when they get out, right?"
She beat a retreat, heading for what she hoped was a kitten-safe distance from the shore. Because, in some ways, *these* felines tended to act like canines.
And we all know what canines do when they come out of the water.

T'ron followed Yselka away from the water, well knowing what even felines did when they climbed out of water ... usually looking like a drowned rat in the process. And he wasn't looking to get wet, himself. He spent plenty enough time wet, just bathing his dragon, thankyouverymuch. Wasn't it just marvelous that now he had a feline that swam, too??
Silver paddled around in the water for a bit, meowing, before turning around and coming back, following Rascal back toward the edge. Clambering up out of the water onto the lip of the pool, she just sat there, though, looking like a wet queen. How she managed it, T'ron couldn't guess. After a moment of just sitting there and making a huge puddle, she started licking herself industriously, starting on her shoulder, to dry off.
After a moment, T'ron just laughed. "Well, I never."

Yselka laughed. "They're adorable. I should try offering Rascal fish. Maybe they're actually fishing cats"
She'd never heard of such a thing, but ordinary felines had a certain fondness for stuff from the water, so she was sure these did, too. And there was always fish at Ista, of kinds that humans did not normally eat. People fed some of it to their firelizards.
Even Lyeth liked the occasional morsel, although not even the big ocean going fish were much of a meal for a full grown gold.

"Fish? And encourage them to swim?" T'ron asked. "We'd be lucky if they didn't get washed away in the surf, if they started trying to catch thier own fish." He remarked, doubtfully.
Imp chirped at the mention of fish, and leapt into the air to go find some. Now that they had mentioned it, he was actually quite hungry! And fish sounded just dandy, to him.
T'ron watched his flitter fly toward the kitchens, and then shook his head before quirking a crooked grin at Silver. She was starting to look rather bedraggled, now, as bits of fur started sticking out before other bits did, as she slowly started drying out. "You look like you've been slobbered on by a dragon, kiddo." He told her.

Yselka glanced at her own drying kitten. "They need to grow guard hairs."
Then they'd float better. "And I don't think we're going to be able to stop them."
Yselka's bronze took off after Imp, no doubt getting the same idea, tossed a bit by the wind as he followed.
"Tame they might be, trained they are not. But I suppose we'll have to fix that." Maybe they'd respond to voice commands, like canines...

"Trained they need to be, definitely. What medium to train them in, and how to train them, though ... I am not sure. I wonder if the dragons would be any use in that? Seeing how they have a tendency to lean toward semi telepathic communications ... they should be easy enough to teach. Diciplining them could be harder, though." T'ron mentioned.
Deciding that she was tired of licking herself, Silver changed over to licking on Rascal, giving him weird little pointy places as she licked his fur backwards.
