1. The Weyr only permits young people between twelve and twenty Turns (inclusive) to Stand. If there is a gold egg, then exceptional young women between twenty and twenty-five will be permitted onto the Sands. Therefore, your character should be in this age range. If you want to play one of the female exceptions, please talk to me. Dragons will never Impress to anyone younger than ten or older than thirty.
2. If you have a character who is not officially a Candidate, but you would like to be considered for Impression, please PM me. Note that I will probably only do one, maybe two PC Stands Impressions per Hatching.
3. Candidates must be sound of mind and body. The Weyr does not permit maimed or crippled individuals to Stand. A character who has a temporary injury that would interfere with caring for a dragonet, e.g. a broken arm, will not be permitted on the Sands. Minor psychological problems are fine. Characters who have ADD, depressive tendencies, an obsession with collecting spoons, etc, are good. Total psychopaths are not. Also, individuals who have committed violent, premeditated crimes such as murder or rape would not normally Impress.
4. Historically, golds Impress to straight women, bronzes to straight men, browns to straight or sometimes bisexual men. Blues can Impress to males of any sexuality, but tend to prefer bisexuals or homosexuals with masculine personalities. Greens Impress to females or any sexuality or to bisexual or homosexual males with feminine personalities. These rules may or may not hold, but would affect a character's perceptions of what he or she is likely to Impress.
5. Not all Candidates live at the Weyr. There is more information on what candidacy is like in the Weyr Life section.
6. Candidates who have not been played for two weeks before the Hatching will not Impress unless the player has previously notified of an absence (Characters affected by an unavoidable absence such as a fried computer, dead cable, etc, will get favorable treatment). No more than two characters from the same player will Impress at any given Hatching.
7. No asking for specific colors. Speculating is fine. Demanding or begging is not.
8. If you do not want a character to Impress, PM me. I'm quite willing to leave people Standing for character development, even if it means giving a dragon to an NPC.
